Reviews say

- Cars described as spotless, near-new, and safe.
- Antonis is friendly, gives good local driving advice, remembers returning customers.
- No excess insurance as standard is a genuine differentiator.
- Peak-season stock goes fast. Book well in advance.

Reviews say
- Recommended twice independently in the FB thread (Geraldine Spathis, Sarah Thomas).
- Offers delivery anywhere on the island, including Poros Port and airport.
- Fewer aggregated public reviews than Greekstones. Personal recommendations only.
Verdict: solid second choice if Greekstones is full. Email for a quote in parallel.
Eco Rent a Car Kefalonia
Backup 2
Contact: Mairy Totolou. Small family business based in Agia Irini near Poros.
Website
Reviews say
- Recommended in the FB thread by Noreen Armstrong specifically for Mairy’s helpfulness.
- Pick-up and drop-off at airport or hotel included.
- Base is Agia Irini (about 20 minutes from Skala), so delivery is essential.
- Newer business with limited independent review volume.
Verdict: worth an enquiry, especially if both Greekstones and DiffeRent quote high.
Practical Notes
- Peak-season three-day minimum is common. A 5-day booking is well within the sweet spot for a decent rate.
- Airport-collected cars average roughly €40 to €45 per day in July (Frank quoted €88 for 2 days). Skala pick-up avoids the airport transfer and is usually competitive.
- Avoid the very smallest 1.0L cars. Kefalonia’s hills genuinely punish them, especially with luggage or on the drive to Assos.
- Book now. Skala availability in the last week of July gets thin fast.
- Confirm insurance covers unpaved roads if you plan to reach beaches like Foki or the Assos approach.

Hi. How much is it to hire a car for 24hrs. Fancy visiting assos.
Nick Furnival: Not sure you’ll get a car for just 24 hours peak season. Try Greekstones or Rentals Park.
Phil Millward: Nick Furnival 😢
Nick Furnival: Phil Millward try them.
Paul Swarbrigg: Greek stones for €70 just went in and had a chat with Adonis. He might haggle a bit but if they have one available you could be lucky. Picked it up at 4pm and dropped off next day before 6.00pm. Just chat about Irish whiskey Adonis is a fan.
Nick Furnival: Paul Swarbrigg antonis.
Duncan Wright: Most commonly three day hire minimum. Cost will depend on availability and time of year. For example a week hire in October can be cheaper than three days in July or August.
Geraldine Spathis: You should try Haris Koustoumpardis at DiffeRent Car Rentals Kefalonia.
Sarah Thomas: Try Haris Koustoumpardis at Different Cars.
Frank Burnside: If only there was a readily available search engine on your phone that would allow a quick check. I did a quick google search, €88 for two days but that from the airport.
Noreen Armstrong: Eco rent a car kefalonia might be able to help. Discuss with the very helpful Mairy Totolou.
